Typusfundort: Australien, Lord Howe Island, vor Ball’s Pyramid, von 31°49.11'S, 159°20.74'E bis 31°49.44'S, 159°20.39'E (Karte), 86–89 m Tiefe.

Etymologie

Das spezifische Epitheton stammt aus dem Lateinischen und bedeutet mit Blut befleckt oder fleckig und spielt auf die leuchtend roten Zeichnungen bei lebenden Tieren an.

Verbreitung

Bisher nur vom Holotypus und zwei Paratypen, die in 86 bis 89 m Tiefe vor Ball’s Pyramid, südöstlich der Insel Lord Howe gesammelt wurden, und von einem Paratypue, der 1913 von P. R. Pedley vor der Insel Lord Howe gesammelt wurde. Die Art kommt möglicherweise auch vor Südost-Queensland (Australien) vor.
