Benannt nach Papua (Neuguinea), der Typuslokalität.

Verbreitung

Südwestlicher Pazifik: Ost- und Nordaustralien in 6-16 m Tiefe. Es gibt unbestätigte historische Aufzeichnungen aus Waigeo und den Aru-Inseln, Indonesien.
