Typusfundort: Rückstau des Rio Maquiné, Zufluss zur Lagoa dos Quadros, Provinz Conceiçao do Arroio, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasilien.
Etymologie
Von lethos (= zu vergessen); stigmus (= Fleck), bezieht sich auf einen großen, aber schwach gefärbten Fleck an der Basis der Schwanzflosse, der scharf mit dem intensiven schwarzen Fleck des sympatrischen Distoechus (= Deuterodon) stigmaturus kontrastiert. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
