Etymologie

Condylura, Gattung des Maulwurfs mit Sternnase, bezieht sich vermutlich auf die maulwurfartige Schnauze dieses Grenadiers, die in einem „Median und einem Paar seitlicher Tuberkel endet, die Rosetten mit kurzen Stacheln tragen“.

Verbreitung

Japan und Taiwan: Pazifik vor Japan, im Norden bis Kuji (40.19°N; Präfektur Iwate), Okinawa Trog, Taiwanstraße, nördliches Südchinesisches Meer und Kyushu-Palau-Kamm in Tiefen von 250–1185 m.
