Etymologie
Leptos, dünn oder länglich, bezieht sich auf den "länglichen und wenig zusammengedrückten" Körper; Lebias, kurz für Cynolebias, d. h. dünne Cynolebias (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project).
