Typusfundort: Gluck Insel, Guyana.
Etymologie
gezügelt, sich auf das auffallende Band beziehend, von den Augen um das Kinn herumgehend (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project). Da die Gattung Laimosemion vom Geschlecht her neutrum ist, muss die Art korrekt als Laimosemion frenatum bezeichnet werden.
