Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren eines „Pierre“ (keine weiteren Angaben), der das Typusexemplar gesammelt hat; möglicherweise Louis Pierre, erster Direktor des Saigon Botanic Garden. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Südostasien: Mekong, Chao Phraya und Salseen Becken.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 17.03.2019:VU Vulnerable (gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Dieser Art wird während der Laichzeit mit Kiemennetzen nachgestellt. Eine starke Befischung durch Kiemennetze während der Nahrungswanderschaft ist ebenfalls eine Bedrohung. Dämme, die auf dem Mekong und 3S Flüssen vorgeschlagen wurden, könnten die Arten stark beeinträchtigen.
