Etymologie

Benannt zu Ehren des Ichthyologen James Leonard Brierley Smith (1897-1968) für seine 1961 erschienene Monographie über die Apogoniden des Indischen Ozeans (in der die Gattung Jaydia aufgestellt wurde). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

Indopazifik: Rotes Meer bis zu den Marshallinseln, im Norden bis Südchina und Südtaiwan, im Süden bis Bali, Indonesien; eingewandert ins Mittelmeer (vor der Küste Syriens).
