Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Die Bedrohungen für diese Art sind unbekannt, da die Auswirkungen potenzieller Bedrohungen (insbesondere solcher anthropogener Art) unbekannt sind. Die derzeitigen Bedrohungen der aquatischen biologischen Vielfalt in all ihren bekannten Verbreitungsgebieten wurden ebenfalls nicht ausreichend identifiziert. Obwohl Prasad et al. (1997) Habitatveränderungen durch die Beseitigung von Flusssubstrat (für den Bau) und Überfischung als unbeabsichtigten Beifang als Hauptbedrohungen für diese Art indizierten. Es wurden keine empirischen Studien über die Auswirkungen dieser beiden vermuteten Bedrohungen auf Fischpopulationen durchgeführt. Diese gelten als Spekulationen und sollten hier nicht berücksichtigt werden.
