Status: Stand 15.11.2017: LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Es sind keine großen Bedrohungen für Hippocampus sindonis bekannt. Seepferdchen im allgemeinen sind anfällig für eine Reihe von Bedrohungen. Für diese Art ist kein kommerzieller Handel bekannt, sie kann aber als Beifang auftauchen und ist anfällig für die Zerstörung von Küstenlebensräumen oder kann für den Handel mit chinesischen Arzneimitteln oder Zierfischen genutzt werden. Diese Spezies kann besonders anfällig für einen Rückgang sein. Alle Seepferdchen betreiben elterliche Brutpflege, und viele der bis heute untersuchten Arten haben eine hohe Standorttreue, ein stark strukturiertes Sozialverhalten und eine relativ dünne Verbreitung.
