Etymologie
Von tri (= drei); spilos (= Punkt); mimus (= Imitator), bezieht sich auf drei große runde schwarze Flecken auf jeder Körperseite, die denen von Enteromius trispilos auffallend ähneln. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Westliches Zentral-Afrika.
