Etymologie
Benannt nach dem Atlantik, in dem diese Art verbreitet ist.
Verbreitung
Westatlantik: Bermuda, Georgia und nordöstlicher Golf von Mexiko bis in die USA.

Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art bekannt. Emblemaria atlantica ist nicht von lebenden Korallenriffen abhängig, so dass der Verlust der lebenden Korallenbedeckung im Golf die Populationsentwicklung wahrscheinlich nicht wesentlich beeinflusst. Chaenopsidae spp. wurden bisher selten als Bestandteil der Feuerfischbeute beobachtet, so dass E. atlantica wahrscheinlich nicht sehr anfällig als Beute für diesen Rotfeuerfisch ist.
