Etymologie
-ensis (Suffix bezeichnet den Ort), aber in diesem Fall ist der Name zu Ehren des chilenischen Ichthyologen Hugo Campos, der Arratia dazu ermutigte, diese Welse zu studieren. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Das Valdivia Becken ist die Typuslokalität, Diplomystes camposensis ist die südlichste Art der Gattung. Später wurde der Colicó-See (Toltén-Becken) hinzugefügt.
