Typusfundort: Original: Provinz Tenasserim, Burma. Neotypus-Fundort: Huai Mae Charno, 4 Kilometer südlich von Amphoe Mae Ramat auf der Straße 1085, 16°58'N, 98°34'E (Karte), Provinz Tak, Salween Becken, Thailand.

Etymologie

Von zonatus (= gebändert); alterno (= mit zwei alternativen Farben), bezogen auf 12 kurze Querbänder seitlich, die sich mit ~ 12 dunklen Bändern über dem Rücken abwechseln. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

Paracanthocobitis zonalternans ist aus dem Salween Einzug in Thailand und Myanmar bekannt.
