Etymologie
Cheilos (= Lippe); pogon (= Bart), in Anspielung auf „Zierratanhang“ am Unterkiefer von Cypselurus pulchellus (= Cheilopogon pinnatibarbatus), „wie eine lederne Lasche oder Schürze, unten unregelmäßig in Streifen oder Riemen gerissen“. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
