Typusfundort: Rio Branco, nördliches Brasilien.
Etymologie
Benannt nach der Hauptstadt des brasilianischen Bundesstaates Roraima: Boa Vista, am westlichen Ufer des Rio Branco, der Typuslokalität. Über die korrekte Schreibweise besteht Unklarheit, wird oft buchstabiert als boavistae, ohne das erste e.
Verbreitung
Brasilien, Venezuela und Kolumbien. Zuflüsse des Maracaibo-Sees, des Orinoco-Beckens und in den nördlichen Nebenflüsse des Amazonas-Beckens.
