Eine Kombination der Namen von Carl Ferraris, Jr. und Luisa Maria Sarmento-Soares, für ihre Beiträge zur Morphologie und Taxonomie von Centromochlinae, von denen Grants Arbeit stark abhängig ist, "ungeachtet der Tatsache, dass [Grant] einigen ihrer Schlussfolgerungen auf Supraspezies-Ebene nicht zustimmt".
