Etymologie
Caudo- (= Schwanz); maculatus (= gefleckt), bezieht sich auf ein Paar großer rötlicher Flecken auf der basalen Hälfte der Schwanzflosse. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Küstenflüsse des Guayana-Schildes, des Orinoco und des Amazonasbeckens.
