Holotypus: AMNH 6052.
Paratypen: (6) AMNH 6217 (1), 6246 (jetzt 2), 6363 (1); MRAC 15526-27 [ex AMNH 6246] (2).
Typusfundort: Kisangani, Provinz Orientale, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Etymologie
Von salmo- (= Lachs), Anspielung nicht erklärt, Bezeiht sich möglicherweise auf Junglachs-ähnliche Markierungen auf den Seiten; lucius (= Hecht), Anspielung nicht erklärt, möglicherweise auf Hecht-ähnliche Länge des Kopfes bezogen.
Verbreitung
Raiamas salmolucius ist auf den Hauptkanal und die Nebenflüsse der nördlichen Hemisphäre des Mittleren Kongobeckens beschränkt, wo sie in den Flüssen Aruwimu, Itimbiri, Tshopo, Lindi, Ubangi und Sangha weit verbreitet ist.
