Etymologie
Von dolichos (= lang); pterum (= Flosse), bezieht sich auf lange Brustflossen (39-48% der Kopflänge), länger als bei der verwandten Art Ariosoma anago. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Südchinesisches Meer: Vietnam bis nach Taiwan.
