Typusfundort: Shur River, entlang der Straße Bandar Abbas - Minab, 20 km östlich von Bandar Abbas, Provinz Hormuzgan, Iran, 27°19'37.6"N, 56°28'10.2"E (Karte), Höhe 2 Meter.
Etymologie
Furcatus (= gegabelt), bezieht sich auf eine leicht gegabelte Schwanzflosse, die in der Gattung einzigartig ist. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Iran: Shur River, Kol River, Mehran River, sowie die heißen Schwefelquellen Khurgu und Faryab im Hormuzgan-Einzug.
