Syntypen: basierend auf von Gill berichteten Exemplaren (1858: 409) als Ancistrus guacharote, möglicherweise beim USNM hinterlegt, aber ihr Verbleib ist unbekannt.
Neotypus: der Holotypus von Ancistrus maracasae ANSP 71723.
