Etymologie
Von brevis (= kurz); filum (= Faden), bezogen auf kurze gespaltene oder vielgeteilte Tentakel an der Schnauze. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Nur aus dem Río Tuy bekannt, der in das karibische Meer von Venezuela mündet.
