Typusfundort: Golf von Oman, 23°47'N, 58°30'30"E (Karte), Investigator Station 341, 230 Faden Tiefe.

Etymologie

Splendens (= hell oder glänzend), bezogen auf seine Schuppen, "sehr hell und silbrig mit einem feinen blauen Schillern". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

Nördlicher Indischer Ozean: Golf von Aden, Golf von Oman und Persischer Golf, Arabisches Meer östlich bis zur Bucht von Bengalen, Indien und Myanmar und Andamanensee, Thailand.
