Etymologie
Hypselos (= hoch); notus (= zurück), bezieht sich auf ein steiles Rückenprofil, das ihm ein hochrückiges Aussehen verleiht. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Weit verbreitet in Südamerika: Argentinien, Bolivien, Brasilien, Kolumbien, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay und Venezuela.
