Typusfundort und -schicht: Souar-Fortuna-Formationen in Djebel el Kébar, Weiler Amamria in der Nähe des Dorfes Soug-Jedid (Gemeinde Sidi Bouzid), Tunesien; Mittleres Eozän (Mittleres Bartonium).

Etymologie

Benannt nach dem Tethys-Meer, das diese Art bewohnt hatte.
